3D/4D printing, blockchain, extended reality: three technologies that are already here — and that we still don't fully understand

You don’t need to understand them perfectly to start using them.

Some technologies have spent years “about to revolutionise everything” — and yet still haven’t made it into the day-to-day of most organisations. 3D printing, blockchain and extended reality are three of them.

Not because they don’t work. But because the gap between what they actually do and what people think they do remains enormous.

3D printing isn’t just making plastic figurines. It’s manufacturing aircraft components, personalised prosthetics, architectural structures and — increasingly — biological tissue. Blockchain isn’t just Bitcoin. It’s traceability, smart contracts, decentralised governance systems. Extended reality isn’t just gaming. It’s training, simulation, project visualisation and — something I’m particularly passionate about — an extraordinary tool for connecting people with nature in ways that were previously impossible.

At Create361 we explore these technologies with a clear criterion: not because they’re new, but because they can be useful. Technology in service of purpose, not the other way around.

In this blog you’ll find experiments, real cases and honest reflections on each of them. Always from the perspective of someone who is learning and applying them in real time.
